Job Title:

Hand and Orthopedic Surgeon

Location:

Cranston, Cumberland, and East Providence, RI

University Orthopedics is seeking a skilled Hand and Orthopedic Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in treating hand and upper extremity conditions, including fractures, ligament injuries, and nerve decompressions.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and diagnose conditions related to the hand, wrist, and forearm.
  • Perform surgical procedures to treat hand and upper extremity conditions, including fractures, ligament injuries, tendon repairs, and nerve decompressions.
  • Manage both acute and chronic conditions affecting the hand, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, arthritis, and congenital anomalies.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care, ensuring optimal recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and multidisciplinary care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Teach students in training, such as medical students, physician assistant students, orthopedic residents, and hand surgery fellows.
Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with completion of a residency program in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Fellowship training in Hand Surgery.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Hand Surgery.
  • State medical license.
  • Strong clinical background with a commitment to excellence in patient care.
  • Experience in general orthopedics as well as hand surgery preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
