Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemo Nurse to join our team at the Durham VA Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing high-risk IV infusions and will be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on age-specific components. They will also provide patient and family education related to the diagnosis and expected side effects of medications.

  • Provides high-risk IV infusions to include antibiotics, chemotherapy, blood, and blood products
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components
  • Provides patient and family education in relation to patient's diagnosis and expected side effects of RX
  • Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stage, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences
  • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines
  • Works with the technical staff to ensure accuracy of treatment plan
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse academic program (BSN or ADN)
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Three (3) years of recent Chemotherapy RN work experience is required
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift. You must also be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs, carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance, push/pull with 30 lbs of force.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience.
