Job Summary

The Public Health Nurse Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals in need of immunizations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health nursing and experience working with vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individuals in need of immunizations.
  • Conduct communicable disease screenings on refugees seen in the clinic, assess vaccination status, and administer vaccinations as indicated or assigned.
  • Serve as a liaison to the NC Refugee Health Program.
  • Know and follow all DCoDPH Refugee Health policies and standing orders.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience.
  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N.C. Board of Nursing.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $64,093 - $86,488 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Durham County Government offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
