Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the site foreman, project manager, or superintendent, execute the electrical tasks as specified by the client's requirements. Candidates should have proven experience in power distribution systems, installation of lighting systems, motor controls, and industrial electrical setups, along with troubleshooting capabilities. A minimum of 200 hours of classroom training and 1,750 hours of apprenticeship is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform assigned tasks while guiding and assisting other roles as necessary. Aim for maximum efficiency, ensuring that projects are completed safely and within budget. Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including:

  1. Implementing the company's safety policy at the job site.
  2. Identifying and rectifying unsafe conditions in the work environment.
  3. Assisting supervisors in ensuring all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are on hand.
  4. Establishing and maintaining safety barriers to protect the public and others.
  5. Providing immediate assistance to any injured personnel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities include:

  1. Possessing skills and knowledge pertinent to the journeyman electrical trade.
  2. Planning work procedures effectively.
  3. Interpreting drawings, schematics, and blueprints to perform electrical installations or repairs as required.
  4. Modifying existing installations as necessary.
  5. Determining the appropriate cable type and size for each circuit and recognizing wire color codes.
  6. Calculating current flow and load capacities.
  7. Diagnosing electrical issues and failures.
  8. Ensuring compliance with the National Electric Code.
  9. Having a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical construction.
  10. Completing at least 2,450 hours of classroom training and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.
  11. Maintaining high electrical safety standards as outlined by OSHA, MSHA, and NEC.
  12. Operating and maintaining various mobile equipment related to the electrical field.
  13. Utilizing electrical testing instruments correctly.
  14. Being able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
  15. Capable of walking and climbing stairs, ladders, and temporary platforms.
  16. Maintaining a clean appearance with no visible jewelry or piercings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  1. Safe driving practices and traffic regulations.
  2. Preventive maintenance of automotive equipment.
  3. Safety protocols for operating forklifts and construction equipment.
  4. Procedures for ordering, receiving, and storing materials.
  5. Hazards and safety measures relevant to this work.

Skills:

  1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  2. Operate hand trucks with loads up to 500 pounds.
  3. Perform quick and accurate mathematical calculations.
  4. Drive large trucks in confined spaces safely.
  5. Learn general warehouse procedures for material storage and inventory management.
  6. Maintain accurate records of stock transactions.
  7. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  8. Assist in receiving and issuing electrical components.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Five years of experience in electrical construction.
  2. One year of driving experience with large vehicles.
  3. One year of experience operating forklifts and heavy equipment.

LICENSE: A valid operator's license issued by the appropriate authority is required.
