About the Surgical Oncology Unit:

This unit encompasses a 48-bed inpatient acute care area, focusing on post-operative care for patients undergoing oncology surgeries, including gastric, colon, liver, breast, pancreas, kidney, bladder, prostate, and GYN cancers, along with limited post-operative GYN surgeries related to incontinence.

Position Description

Unit: Surgical Oncology/Gynecology/Urology

We are in search of a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology for the Surgical Oncology/Gynecology/Urology unit at Emory University Hospital. This nursing professional will provide leadership to integrate new knowledge and innovations within this specialty area, utilizing specialized skills across three spheres of influence: patient/family, nursing staff, and the organizational system.

  • Collaborate with Nursing Directors to lead clinical practice and education within the unit, division, and health system.
  • Accountable for designing, implementing, and assessing safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies.
  • Contribute to the advancement of nursing practice at local, state, national, and international levels, playing a key role in applying the Professional Practice/Care Transformation Model across the health system.
  • Provide direct care for complex patients with multi-system care issues.
  • Recognize the diverse needs of patients, staff, and other professionals, considering cultural influences when collaborating with patients and families.
  • Offer expert nursing consultation to nurses, physicians, patients, families, and others to enhance quality care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Meets GA Board of Nursing requirements for CNS
  • Three years of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least two years of recent experience in the relevant specialty area.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
