Entry Level Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program, valid Alabama R.N. license, and a minimum of one year in a supervisory role or experience in chemical dependency nursing. A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Essential Requirements:
- Ability to remain seated for 6 to 8 hours during an 8-hour shift.
- Vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and adequate hearing (hearing aids are acceptable).
- Certification in CPR and competency in blood draws.
- Capable of walking approximately 1 mile within the facility during an 8-hour shift.
- Emotional and physical resilience to manage stressful situations.
- If in recovery, must demonstrate three years of continuous, verifiable abstinence.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in overseeing nursing personnel while fulfilling the duties of a nurse counselor. Implement protocols as instructed.
Compliance:
Adhere to the regulations outlined in 42 CFR Part 2 regarding the confidentiality of drug and alcohol abuse patient records, as well as 45 CFR concerning the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This role has unrestricted access to patient-identifying and health information.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Support the Director of Nursing in ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient records related to nursing assessments, treatment plans, and physician orders.
- Facilitate nursing involvement in multidisciplinary team case discussions.
- Collaborate with the consulting pharmacist to monitor medication usage, including reviewing records and reporting adverse reactions and errors to the Quality Improvement Committee monthly.
- Assist in the comprehensive orientation and training of nursing staff, providing in-service programs as necessary.
- Ensure that active patient records are organized and that all documents are filed promptly.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and scheduling of nursing personnel.
- Work alongside the Clinical Director to foster a therapeutic environment.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, ensuring clarity and responsiveness in communication with patients.
- Exhibit teamwork and cooperation with colleagues, management, and clients.
- Demonstrate a constant state of alertness to perform duties safely.
- Adhere to regular attendance policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
