Position Overview

Role Summary

As a pivotal member of the User Experience (UX) team at Alliance One Inc., you will ensure that all software applications designed for our employees are accessible to everyone. Collaborating closely with Content Writers, Visual Designers, and UX Researchers, your focus will be on aligning our software with digital accessibility standards, thereby enhancing the banking experience for both our frontline staff and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accessibility Advocate: Foster an inclusive atmosphere by educating stakeholders, development partners, executives, and designers on the importance of accessibility in every design choice.
  • Client-Centric Approach: Strive for excellence in accessibility, ensuring that all employees can effectively utilize the tools provided to assist clients in achieving their goals. Conduct audits of employee-facing applications to ensure compliance with international accessibility standards and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Effective Communicator: Utilize your communication skills to discuss accessibility guidelines with confidence. Strong interpersonal abilities are essential for collaboration with diverse stakeholders, product owners, and internal teams, as you lead initiatives that highlight the value of inclusive design.
  • Assistive Technology Specialist: Employ various assistive technologies, such as screen readers and dictation software, to evaluate the usability of internal applications. Conduct thorough accessibility audits to ensure compliance with WCAG standards.
  • Research and Presentation: Engage in user research actively and leverage findings to propose accessibility enhancements. Present compelling cases for change to stakeholders.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional growth.

Candidate Profile

  • Expertise in web accessibility standards and best practices, including WCAG 2.1+, AODA, and the Accessible Canada Act, with practical knowledge to translate these principles into design, content, and coding decisions.
  • A degree or diploma in digital design, inclusive design, or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for people, building trust through respect and authenticity within a diverse network of partners.
  • Proficiency in developing and testing for accessibility using a blend of developer tools and assistive technology.
  • A commitment to collective success, recognizing that collaboration can elevate ideas and foster a shared vision.
