The primary responsibility of the Campus Safety Officer is to oversee the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors through the utilization of a closed-circuit television system and to serve as a dispatcher when necessary. This role involves acting as a security professional to monitor the premises, manage alarm systems, provide assistance to guests, and report any unusual occurrences.

The ideal candidate will engage in monitoring closed-circuit television systems and offer appropriate guidance to visitors and members of the campus community. Responsibilities include overseeing fire and entry alarm systems, with the capability to activate or deactivate them as required. Additional tasks involve responding to Campus Safety telephone inquiries, assisting walk-in visitors with information and directions, and occasionally fulfilling receptionist duties. The candidate will also manage officer equipment logs, conduct record checks, and dispatch officers for security patrols, emergencies, and various other situations. This role includes issuing permits and identification cards to campus personnel, monitoring weather conditions, making necessary notifications, and alerting the campus community during emergencies when required.
The successful candidate will embody and promote the student-first philosophy while contributing to the overall success of Baker College, serving as a positive role model and brand ambassador both on and off campus. Requirements
A High School Diploma and/or GED is required for this position. The ideal candidate should possess strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Jenzabar. Proficiency in computer skills is essential, enabling the use of various computer-related technologies. The candidate must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Additionally, they should be capable of writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees within the organization. Furthermore, the candidate should have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form and to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
