About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer Intern to join our team at Southland Industries. As a Project Engineer Intern, you will assist in the coordination of projects, develop skills in design, estimating, and scheduling, and work closely with engineers, vendors, and suppliers to procure and manage submittals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support field labor and provide labor feedback
  • Procure equipment and subcontractors
  • Manage document control and coordinate design, trade, and subcontractor activities
  • Assist in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, and estimate project changes and impacts
  • Develop project schedules and assist in their implementation
Requirements
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Architectural, Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Safety Sciences
  • Interest in technical courses, such as fluids, heat transfer, CM scheduling, and finance
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC design and system operations
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing drawings and identify work installed
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
