Electrical Apprentice Job Description

MKD Electric is seeking a skilled Electrical Apprentice to join our team. As an Electrical Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting experienced electricians with various tasks, including reading and interpreting control drawings, wiring diagrams, and relay schematics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and relay schematics
  • Ensure the performance of all field-testing equipment is completed accurately and safely
  • Communicate with proper teams to schedule necessary support to perform testing and commissioning of all systems and equipment
  • Perform point to point checks
  • Perform pre-functional and functional testing
  • Develop energization plans
Requirements:
  • Must be confident, a strong troubleshooter, and effectively communicate
  • Must be able to demonstrate SAFE electrical troubleshooting skills using basic and advanced test equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook applications
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated electrical, HVAC, and mechanical background
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Reliable and dependable with a strong work ethic
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift to 20-30 pounds independently; lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels
  • Must be able to lift to 60 pounds independently; lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels
  • Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet
  • Requires standing for extended period with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors
