Position Summary
The role of a Radiation Therapist involves administering radiation treatments to patients for therapeutic purposes. This position requires a focus on patient safety and care, employing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to implement prescribed treatment protocols, perform tumor localization, and manage dosimetry effectively. It is essential to maintain accurate patient records and ensure the principles of radiation protection are upheld for patients and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with radiation oncologists to develop precise treatment plans that target specific areas with the correct radiation dosage.
2. Utilize simulators and/or imaging technologies to accurately localize treatment volumes.
3. Create detailed patient treatment plans based on localization data using specialized planning software.
4. Clearly communicate procedures and expectations to patients.
5. Properly position patients on treatment tables to ensure accurate delivery of radiation.
6. Identify anatomical landmarks and mark the treatment area on the patient's skin.
7. Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals and contribute to enhancing clinical safety.
8. Provide on-call services as required and assist with additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
+ Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Licensure and Certifications
+ Registration with the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) is mandatory.
+ A valid state license is required.
+ BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of radiation oncology techniques, oncologic pathology, anatomy, and treatment planning procedures is essential. Familiarity with all equipment and software utilized in the department is required.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is competitive and reflects the expertise required for the role.
