We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk Per Diem to join our team at Tucson Medical Center. As a key member of our patient care team, you will be responsible for coordinating clerical and hospital functions to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and direct patient admissions, initiate patient files, and process discharges, transfers, and expirations.
- Provide general staff support by assisting with patient scheduling, standard computer inquiries, and other routine tasks.
- Maintain supply levels for units and report unit needs for housekeeping, hospitality, and maintenance services.
- Perform receptionist duties, including receiving and directing telephone calls and messages.
- Assist visitors, staff, and patients by providing directions to hospital locations or calling for an escort when necessary.
- Participate in quality initiatives and operate a personal computer, calculator, FAX machine, copy machine, scanner, and related office machinery.
- Receive and dispatch communications, including phone, intercom, Vocera, fax, and mail.
- Process and maintain records of admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths.
- Order supplies and services as directed.
- Schedule appointments, surgeries, lab collections, and other procedures.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- None required, preferred six (6) months of related experience.
- Basic computer familiarity and experience with office equipment.
