Dietary Aide Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team at Berkshire Health Systems. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dietary functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Service: Assist in serving meals in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to established portion control procedures.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators, and freezers, as well as sweep and mop floors as directed.
  • Utensil Management: Carry soiled utensils to the wash area, return clean utensils to proper storage areas, and wash and clean utensils as directed.
  • Garbage and Waste Management: Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry, and free of hazardous equipment and supplies.
  • Meal Preparation: Assist the cook in preparing meals, set up meal trays, food carts, and dining rooms, and distribute and collect menus as necessary.
  • Inventory Management: Obtain food supplies for the next meal and ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Infection Control and Safety: Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks, report all hazardous conditions and accidents to the supervisor immediately, and ensure that the department is clean and safe.
  • Food Storage and Disposal: Maintain food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times, ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available, and dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report missing or illegible labels or MSDSs to the supervisor and assist in food preparation for special meals for parties and events.

Requirements: To be successful as a Dietary Aide, you will need to possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and be committed to providing exceptional customer service.
