Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Marine Police Officer to join our team at the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management. As a Marine Police Officer, you will play a critical role in enforcing laws and regulations related to marine life conservation, boating safety, and navigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations related to marine life conservation, boating safety, and navigation
  • Conduct dockside inspections and board commercial and recreational boats
  • Perform special assignments involving homeland security or undercover observation
  • Issue summonses and make appearances in court
  • Work variable schedules, including seven days a week with rotating shifts
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Must be eligible for a Valid Virginia Driver's License
  • Must be able to interpret and apply policy/regulations in order to make sound decisions
  • Ability to effectively complete reports and files
  • Must be able to communicate with a diverse population
  • Law Enforcement Certification is desired, but not required
Additional Considerations

Applicants must be free from commercial fishing interests. Applicants must complete physical agility assessment, written test, criminal background investigation, credit check, physical exam, and drug testing.
