Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Physician Assistant to join our General Surgery team at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, California. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The Senior Physician Assistant will provide high-quality, efficient, and team-based patient-focused care, working under the direction of a supervising physician. Responsibilities may include managing patients in the office, hospital, ED, and/or perioperative setting, and may require evening or weekend hours.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience as a physician assistant in the last five years, with a graduate degree from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program. A Physician Assistant License (California) is required at hire, as well as a National Provider Identifier and Physician Assistant National Certificate. Basic Life Support certification is also required.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Examines patients, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.

2. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as imaging studies, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.

3. Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, and managing infection.

4. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.

5. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance and other relevant patient education.

Additional Requirements:
1. Fluoroscopy Permit required, or must be obtained within 18 months from the date of hire in Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, and Radiation Oncology only.

2. May be required to have experience and competency in performing specific tasks required by the specific department.

3. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Advanced Certification in specialty area, preferred.
