Job Summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in the Department of Pathology Administration. As a Pathologist Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Submit tissue samples for testing and examination
  • Examine body parts removed during surgery and photograph individual organs
  • Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and pathology residents to perform tasks
  • Research and train pathology residents, pathologists assistant students, and other pathology lab personnel
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a life science, such as biology or chemistry
  • Completion of a pathologists assistant program resulting in a master's degree
  • Certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
