Overview:

The Pharmacy Supervisor oversees the operations of the pharmacy site, ensuring the delivery of exceptional services and management of personnel. This role is pivotal in the establishment, execution, and upkeep of efficient systems and workflows. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining budgetary compliance across various expenses, including labor and pharmaceutical costs, while also fulfilling the responsibilities of a managing pharmacist in alignment with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor pharmacy staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and professional development. Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to establish performance benchmarks and foster staff engagement.
  • Streamline operations by developing standardized workflow procedures. Assign daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to ensure adherence to established protocols and effective payment collection.
  • Assist in the formulation of the pharmacy budget, analyzing monthly financial reports and addressing variances with pharmacy leadership.
  • Promote a customer-centric image of the pharmacy, ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards as per HIPAA regulations. Address service recovery and conflict resolution to uphold service quality.
  • Contribute to minimizing medication errors by completing Near Miss and Occurrence reports, while also identifying areas for process improvement.
  • Ensure the security of medication storage areas and compliance with established policies and regulations. Maintain quality control procedures for medication disposal and record-keeping.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring timely orders and proper disposal of expired stock.
  • Perform clinical pharmacist duties, including verifying medication orders, dispensing, patient consultations, and compounding, while leading medication therapy management initiatives.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with site leadership and healthcare providers, offering medication information and education as needed.
  • Handle after-hours calls related to pharmacy operations.
  • Provide mentorship to pharmacy students and residents as applicable.
  • Maintain a safe and alert working environment.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D; Bachelor of Pharmacy) from an accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs frequently.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive movements.
  • Good vision and depth perception for tasks requiring close and distant focus.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to hear alarms and communicate orally.
  • Frequent use of keyboard and data entry.
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Licensure:

Registered Pharmacist in the state of employment.
