Job Summary

The Adult Infusion Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a key clinical leader for the Adult Infusion Centers at UCSF locations in the East Bay and San Francisco. This CNS provides primary oversight and consultation for medical oncology, hematology oncology & BMT, and non-oncology patients who receive treatment or procedures at the UCSF Adult infusion Centers.

This CNS is responsible for promoting consistency in practices across sites, collaborating with other Infusion Services CNS(s), and partnering with Ambulatory Solid Tumor Nurse Educators, Inpatient Oncology CNS, and Adult inpatient CNS teams from all disciplines involved in the care of adult infusion patients.

The CNS is expected to have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, comorbidities, major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, patient education, and research requirements.

This CNS will lead work related to developing plans of care for complex patient care issues, care coordination of cancer patients across the treatment continuum, and fostering continuity of care to maximize patient outcomes.

This role positively impacts patient care and improves nursing practice through access to evidence-based practices, current research, cancer care trends, and infusion best practices.

The CNS participates in UCSF committees and efforts at the state and national level to maximize care coordination and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement plans of care for complex patient care issues
  • Care coordination of cancer patients across the treatment continuum
  • Foster continuity of care to maximize patient outcomes
  • Participate in UCSF committees and efforts at the state and national level

Requirements:

  • Minimum five (5) years adult clinical nursing experience
  • Minimum five (5) years recent clinical adult hematology/oncology experience
  • Minimum two (2) years chemotherapy administration experience
  • Master's degree in nursing or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training
