Job Summary

Ambulance Remount Technicians play a vital role in ensuring the safety and functionality of emergency vehicles. As a key member of our team at A People Revolution, you will be responsible for disassembling, repairing, and reassembling ambulances and emergency vehicles to meet manufacturer and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Disassembly and Inspection:
    • Disassemble old ambulance modules from chassis and prepare them for remount.
    • Inspect chassis and ambulance bodies for any needed repairs or replacements.
    • Assess wear and damage to various mechanical, electrical, and body components.
  • Repair and Remounting:
    • Perform necessary mechanical repairs to the chassis, engine, suspension, and drivetrain.
    • Repair or replace electrical wiring, lights, and emergency systems (e.g., sirens, radios).
    • Reinstall ambulance modules onto new or refurbished chassis, ensuring proper alignment and secure mounting.
    • Conduct bodywork repairs and refinishing as necessary, including panel replacement and repainting.
  • Compliance and Testing:
    • Ensure all remounted ambulances meet national and state-specific regulations.
    • Conduct safety checks and quality control inspections to confirm vehicle readiness.
    • Perform final testing of electrical and mechanical systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping:
    • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
    • Complete remount certifications and compliance reports for each vehicle.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other technicians and management to meet deadlines and ensure quality standards.
    • Communicate with the service department to ensure that customer expectations are met.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in automotive, mechanical, or electrical systems preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience in automotive repair, emergency vehicle remounts, or a related field.
    • Experience with ambulance, fire truck, or emergency vehicle maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems and basic cabinetry work.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and manuals.
    • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
    • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Certifications:
    • ASE certification in relevant automotive areas preferred.
    • EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in various conditions, including lifting, standing for long periods, and exposure to loud environments.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more and work in tight or awkward spaces.
