Position: Safety Advisor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard the health and safety of personnel, the job site, the environment, and the general public.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify potential hazards, evaluate risks, and take necessary actions to mitigate them.
  • Foster a culture of safety on-site and advise management on potential risks.
  • Investigate incidents to determine their causes and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to field personnel.
  • Collaborate effectively with management to ensure safety strategies align with corporate policies and expectations.
  • Assist in responding to and managing significant safety incidents, including serious injuries, fatalities, and regulatory actions.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to enhance worker protection and educate employees on health problem prevention through safety training initiatives.
  • Gather and verify safety records and conduct safety audits.

Qualifications:

  • Hold relevant certifications, including but not limited to OSHA 30, OSHA 500, CPR, Basic First Aid, and MSHA.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement and uphold workplace safety programs, procedures, and policies.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Work with the safety team to cultivate a culture that prioritizes safety, identifies hazards, and takes proactive measures to reduce risks.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and initiatives concurrently.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based software such as O365 Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, and OneDrive.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years in Industrial Construction, with at least 3 years in a dedicated Safety role.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • LOTO Trainer (NFPA70E) certification.
  • Forklift Trainer certification.
  • Confined Space Trainer certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • CSP Certification or CSST Certification with NCCER.
  • NCCER Trainer or equivalent certification.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24 feet high.
  • Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
  • Able to stand for 8-12 hours.
  • Ability to twist and bend regularly.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions, including wet, humid, hot, cold, bright/dim light, traffic, heights, dust, and pollen.
  • Normal visual acuity, field vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception, and texture perception are required.
  • Some environments may have high noise and vibration levels.
