Job Title: Precision Optics Fabricator Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Precision Optics Fabricator Specialist to join our team at Rochester Precision Optics LLC. As a critical member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for setting up and operating conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision optical components.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, and run programs of CNC machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Responsible for reviewing final machining and sizing of components as required, supporting prototype, pre-production, production programs, and rework, including documentation.
  • Maintain Nakamura-Tome Centering Machines and set-up process on CM-2/C-2/C-50 CNC Centering Machines, centering lenses to print specifications.
  • Ensure quality of the finished product by continually reinforcing a strong and open working relationship between the quality and production departments.
  • Maintain production records using Epicor tracking system and follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
  • Set-up and measure lens radius and surface irregularity using an interferometer and inspect and identify lens surface defects per optical industry standards.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in Conventional and CNC Machining of Precision Optical Components.
  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Competent shop math and algebra skills required.
  • Computer programming/CNC skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Mathematical skills to apply basic mathematical concepts.

Compensation Details: The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 annually, based on industry standards and requirements.
