About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Rochester Precision Optics LLC. As an Optical Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in the efficient operation of manufacturing processes within our facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create project plans and perform utilization studies to identify capacity needs and constraints.
  • Develop recommendations for improvements that maximize efficiency by analyzing equipment layouts, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.
  • Determine parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the optics manufacturing field.
  • Regularly interface with engineering, production support group, and proactively communicate with customers on project status and the resolution of issues that may arise during the production schedule.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in optics or mechanical engineering.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards is preferred.
  • Experienced in ITAR regulations, specifications, and company compliance.
Work Environment and Benefits:

The Optical Manufacturing Engineer will work in a clean environment and be required to wear safety glasses. The position involves prolonged periods of sitting/standing, use of oils and solvents, and exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.

Compensation and Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a 4/10 work week with every Friday as a non-work day.
