Career Opportunities for Practical Nursing Specialists
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Practical Nursing Specialist (PNS), under the guidance of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician, is entrusted with delivering care that is appropriate for various age groups, while being sensitive to cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The PNS plays a vital role in ensuring a safe environment, educating patients and their families, gathering essential information, communicating effectively, and leveraging technology in patient care. This position involves participation in the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of healthcare services and tasks. Additionally, the PNS is responsible for patient advocacy, educational initiatives, quality improvement, and overseeing unlicensed staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program as a Practical Nurse is mandatory.
- A valid Georgia Practical Nurse License is required.
- Possession of a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is essential.
