Job Summary

Santa Barbara City College is seeking qualified candidates for a Part-Time Instructor Pool in Physics. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching physics courses and contributing to the development of the department's curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Teach physics courses to students at various levels of proficiency
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair
Requirements
  • Masters in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics
  • OR Bachelor's in physics or astronomy and Master's in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics
  • OR the equivalent
  • OR a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to the above
  • Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching physics courses at the community college level
  • Experience developing and implementing curriculum
  • Experience assessing student learning and providing feedback
