Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian II to join our team at Cedar Rapids Community School District. As a key member of our maintenance and custodial staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, cleaning of carpets and blinds, emptying of waste receptacles, and cleaning of toilet facilities.
  • Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs as needed.
  • Assist with yard work, including mowing, trimming, and general cleanup of athletic fields.
  • Keep walks and entries clear of ice and snow during inclement weather.
  • Help with receiving and storing supplies for the building cafeteria.
  • Move and arrange furniture for school functions as needed.
  • Perform additional requests of the building principal and engineer as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Valid Iowa driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Working Environment

The work environment is typically quiet, but may involve working in areas of a building or operating equipment where hearing protection is recommended. The employee will move, stand, and squat on various surfaces, including tile, wood, terrazzo, and concrete. The employee will work both inside and outside in various weather conditions.

Classification

This position is classified as Category "A" of the salary schedule for Maintenance and Custodial staff.
