Nursing Team Leader Job Description

At AltaPointe Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Team Leader to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating nursing services for Adult Residential Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee medical consultation services to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Coordinate care between residential and outpatient clinics, integrated health clinics, and outside agencies, and implement a system for reporting identified issues.
  • Ensure comprehensive nursing assessments and care plans are completed at admission, annually, and as needed.
  • Oversee medical supply orders and maintain assigned vehicles according to AltaPointe protocols.
  • Develop and implement training curriculum for ARS Nursing Staff.
  • Provide specialized training as needed for ARS employees.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as assigned.
  • Monitor RL6 data for trends and work with ARS leadership to implement and evaluate change.
  • Take calls from staff about emergencies or critical issues after normal work hours and on weekends.

Qualifications:

  • RN license to practice in the State of Alabama.
  • Knowledge in psychiatric nursing, educational and training issues.
  • Knowledge of the Alabama Nurse Delegation Program (NDP).
  • Medication Assistant Supervising (MAS) nurse certification through DMH and Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing care.
  • Familiarity of psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications with the adult population.
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention, and interventions common to acute psychotic residents as well as to non-violent crisis intervention practice.
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult population.
  • Knowledge of educational methods appropriate both for staff and adults with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders.
  • Knowledge of all applicable standards.
  • Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record.
