Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits significant initiative and discernment in meal preparation, seasoning, estimating food needs, utilizing leftovers, and presenting dishes attractively.
  • Organizes cooking timelines to ensure meals are ready punctually and align with established dining schedules.
  • Prepares, portions, garnishes, and serves meals in accordance with standard recipes and planned menus, adhering to portion control guidelines.
  • Manages inventory effectively.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding residents' personal and health information, respecting their privacy and adhering to resident rights as mandated by state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • One to three years of experience in commercial food preparation is essential.
  • Experience in assisted living or skilled nursing environments, with a comprehensive understanding of specialized diets.
  • Solid knowledge of basic nutrition, culinary techniques, portion control, and serving practices.
  • Proficient in operating standard kitchen equipment, including mixers, meat slicers, ovens, grills, deep fryers, stoves, steamers, choppers, dishwashers, and microwaves.
  • Capable of preparing a variety of foods in large quantities, with familiarity in seasoning and cooking times.
  • Able to follow standard recipes and independently create multi-course meals.
  • Basic computer skills are a plus.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • A degree or certification from a culinary institution is preferred.
  • Must hold or obtain necessary local and state food handling and sanitation licenses or certifications.
