We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at the Ferguson-Florissant School District. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol and Monitor District Property: Conduct regular patrols of our campuses, sites, grounds, and parking lots to deter, detect, and report any unlawful or inappropriate activity.
- Screen and Control Access: Observe and screen all visitors to ensure they are properly authorized and control access to district property.
- Collaborate with Administrators and Law Enforcement: Work with school administrators and law enforcement officials to mitigate and manage emergency situations and serious student offenses.
- Document Incidents and Reports: Complete and submit detailed reports, activity logs, safety records, and other documents related to district property, staff, and student safety.
- Perform Traffic Safety Duties: Conduct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safety duties as needed.
- Maintain Alertness and Discernment: Maintain alertness and good discernment at all times to correct and report conditions that may be hazardous to health and safety.
- Supervise Student Behavior: Supervise and monitor student behavior to protect their safety and ensure school board policies and school discipline guidelines are followed.
- Establish Positive Relationships: Establish positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the community.
- Security License: Possess or be able to obtain a St. Louis County Police Security License.
- Security Experience: Previous security experience in a public school setting is preferred.
- Human Relations Skills: Must possess excellent human relations skills.
- Physical Condition: Must be in satisfactory physical condition.
- Communication Skills: Have the ability and desire to work with public, staff, and students.
- Driver's License: Have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Education: Have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Age: Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
The work setting involves performance in an office and school environment with various levels of staff, visitor, and student involvement. Conditions can include working in various hot, cold, and/or wet weather conditions.
Equipment and ToolsPersonal computer, copier, phone, transistor radio, mace, pager.
Terms of EmploymentAssigned to 260 day work calendar; 8 hours per day vary; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education.
