Job Summary

The Director of Public Relations/Community Outreach will be responsible for developing and implementing public relations and outreach initiatives to build and sustain messaging in support of Baltimore City Community College at the local, state, and national levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive public relations and outreach plans to promote the College's programs and strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local media, community organizations, and College stakeholders to promote a positive image of the College.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to coordinate production of print, radio, and television advertisements, and on-air promotions.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies to maximize positive media exposure for College programs, faculty, and students.
  • Manage editorial requests, corporate, non-profit, and government meetings, press releases, and press conferences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, English, communications, multimedia, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in communications, public affairs, or community relations, with seven years of progressively responsible supervisory/management experience.
  • Able to be responsive to media representatives during routine and emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in public or media relations, marketing, journalism, communications.
  • Prior experience managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Previous experience with higher education or in an academic setting.
