Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Warehouse Material Handler to join our team at the City of Marietta, GA. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will be responsible for receiving, inspecting, and recording inventory, as well as ensuring accurate and efficient storage and retrieval of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and Inspection: Physically receive and inspect all incoming supplies, accurately entering them into our computer-based inventory application.
  • Inventory Management: Document and report any changes from original orders, ensuring accurate quantities and vendor information.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and transmit receiving information to our mainframe computer, verifying accuracy and completeness.
  • Vendor Communication: Ensure that receiving information and supporting documentation are sent to management for vendor payment.
  • Quality Control: Document defective materials received and reject deliveries of incorrect materials.
  • Material Location and Retrieval: Arrange for notification and delivery of non-stock items to requesting departments, ensuring all paperwork is properly recorded.
  • Job Order Verification: Review and verify all job order paperwork for accuracy, informing the Foreperson of any deletions, additions, or changes.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Check and maintain all equipment, including label makers, printers, scanners, and digital counting and sampling scales.
  • Calculations and Reporting: Compute square footage, cubic areas, and other measurements for storage capacity and material quantities.
  • Information Provision: Provide electrical engineering and other departments with current inventory information, including quantities on hand and delivery times.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to requests for warehouse materials during events such as power outages and water main breaks.
  • Annual Inventory Audit: Assist in checking the warehouse system for proper operation and participate in the annual inventory audit.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or GED with skill in reading, writing, and business mathematics.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of warehouse experience, with familiarity with inventory applications and computerized inventory control and material management procedures.
  • Skills: Ability to use computer inventory applications, make mathematical calculations, and read and interpret maps and specifications.
  • Certifications: Must obtain mobile crane operations qualifications certification and have a valid Georgia driver's license with a satisfactory 7-year driving history.
  • Physical Demands: Must be in excellent physical condition, able to lift heavy loads, and work at heights with or without automated devices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial Electrical and Water Parts Experience: Experience in commercial electrical and/or water parts is preferred.
  • Inventory Control Software: Familiarity with inventory control software and computerized inventory management systems.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills, including the ability to speak English clearly and interact with staff and the public in a courteous and professional manner.
