- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to OSHA-MSDS procedures and protocols.
- Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as required.
- Report concerns about residents' well-being to the Case Manager or Administrator.
- Repair equipment or requisition necessary services to repair equipment.
- Check daily for work requests from staff and residents.
- Perform handyman tasks for residents, including minor repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain an accurate ledger of repairs and services provided, submitting reports to the office by the designated date each month.
- Ensure proper removal and disposal of trash, adhering to environmental regulations.
- Assist with room setup and cleanup for special events.
- Inspect buildings and grounds weekly, identifying and repairing items in need of maintenance.
- Inspect emergency lighting, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, and ducts as required by New York City Code.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures.
- Report on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
- Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families, and visitors.
- Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations, and personnel.
- Promote the facility in a positive way.
- Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
- Fire and safety procedures.
- Function and operation of kitchen appliances, office equipment, maintenance equipment, and grounds equipment, with the ability to do minor repairs.
- Understanding of and ability to repair minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical problems.
- Maintain OSHA-MSDS sheets and procedures.
- Heated/Air-conditioned, well-lit facility with minimal barriers.
- Outdoor responsibilities in winter and summer.
- Lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs., using proper body mechanics or available equipment.
- Bending, kneeling, or climbing ladders to perform maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
- Occasional weekend work for special events, snowstorms, or maintenance emergencies.
- Handyman skills.
- Experience in maintenance or environmental services.
- Enjoyment in working with older adults.
- Residents always come first, and their needs will be met unless there is a conflict with the needs of others or the organization as a whole.
- Employees will not work under the influence of mood-altering or illegal drugs or alcohol.
- Neat appearance, adherence to the dress code, and good personal hygiene are expected.
- Must be available for all training and in-service sessions.
- May be expected to perform tasks that are not included in this position description, but which may be assigned time permitting.
