Summer 2025 Environmental Engineering Internship Opportunity

This is a unique chance to join Steel Dynamics, Inc. as an Environmental Engineering Intern and contribute to the company's sustainability and decarbonization goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the ISO14001 environmental management system, encompassing all environmental program areas, including air, wastewater treatment, and discharge, NPDES storm water, and solid waste minimization and disposal.
  • Work with the SDI Corporate Office on environmental projects and focus on Sustainability and Decarbonization goals and efforts.
  • Interact with Federal, State, and Local agencies, legislative bodies, trade groups, legal consultants, and other professional groups to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and obtain necessary environmental permits, working with consulting and agency personnel to secure permit conditions.
  • Document compliance with permit conditions through sampling, data retrieval, and records availability.
  • Assist with radiation detection systems and rejections for incoming product material or scrap steel.
  • Work with contractors and vendors to achieve program goals while assuring excellent value.
  • Provide training as needed to meet various environmental requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • Must have a 2.7 GPA or higher.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Excel spreadsheet programming.
  • Must have excellent organizational, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
