Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid Illinois state teaching license/certification in Special Education
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
  • Valid Illinois Special Education teaching certification or enrollment in a university intern program
  • Authorization to work with English Language Learners (CLAD Certification)
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities
  • Assess students' abilities and progress, and modify instructional strategies accordingly
  • Collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other professionals to support students' academic and social-emotional growth
  • Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills
  • Utilize assistive technology and other accommodations to support students' learning
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and participation in accordance with school and district policies
