Position Overview

This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan reimbursement. Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria as per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of their appointment.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief of Primary Care is responsible for ensuring the delivery of comprehensive health services to veteran patients. This position reports directly to the Chief of Primary Care Services.

The role encompasses oversight of Primary Care services and indirect supervision of all medical, surgical, and ancillary services provided at the facility.

The incumbent will lead, guide, and supervise primary care providers while collaborating with the Health Administration Services Supervisor and Nursing Supervisor to implement and maintain the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model, ensuring timely access and high patient satisfaction.

Essential duties include:

  • Preparation of annual performance evaluations and quarterly updates.
  • Recruitment and management of healthcare providers.
  • Monitoring of performance metrics and feedback.
  • Handling disciplinary actions and approving leave requests.
  • Collaborating with patient advocates to address complaints.
  • Participating in various leadership committees and process improvement teams.

In conjunction with the Associate Chief of Staff for Primary Care, the Chief will be tasked with planning, organizing, and refining a comprehensive patient management and clinical support program that meets clinical, procedural, legal, and administrative requirements.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the basic requirements, including:

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
  • A degree in medicine or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • A current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.

Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.

Work Schedule

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
