Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Service Engineering Technician. This role entails the initiation, troubleshooting, installation, and training on all machinery within the client's facility and, when necessary, at the manufacturing site. Our training programs encompass all product lines, equipping our technicians with the diverse skills needed to effectively support our clientele.

The ideal candidate will primarily work on-site but remote options may be available for individuals with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of capital equipment.

Compensation includes a competitive hourly wage, with enhanced rates for travel or customer site visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitates or assists in the installation and commissioning of equipment at client facilities as assigned.
  2. Conducts preventative maintenance on machinery at client locations as required.
  3. Provides training on equipment at client sites as needed.
  4. Performs repairs or adjustments on machinery at client facilities as directed, verifying work by observing equipment in operation.
  5. Collaborates with other Brown Machine Group personnel during service calls as necessary.
  6. Recommends modifications or improvements to existing equipment based on observations made during service tasks.
  7. Assesses spare parts inventory at client locations and advises on necessary parts to maintain optimal levels.
  8. May undertake repair, adjustment, and assembly tasks on experimental machinery at the manufacturing facility as assigned.
  9. Prepares service and expense reports, along with field change service notices for all service engagements.
  10. Communicates any known issues or opportunities to engineering and sales teams while on-site.
  11. Promotes the sale of Brown Machine Group products whenever feasible.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of an associate degree, trade school certification, or equivalent experience.
  2. At least one year of experience in a manufacturing setting, machine maintenance, or machine assembly is preferred.
  3. Background in industrial controls and experience with robotics programming is advantageous.
  4. Ability to understand and modify industrial controls, including the installation and programming of PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and Servo Systems.
  5. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport and other travel documentation, as well as maintain a current driver's license without restrictions.
  6. Willingness to travel frequently, with at least 75% of time dedicated to travel.
  7. Must be eligible to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull weights ranging from 35 to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting required.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods.
  • May need to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged durations, performing manual tasks at low to moderate exertion levels.
  • Must be able to navigate within various departments at the organization's facilities (e.g., climbing stairs, ladders, etc.).
