Job Overview

POSITION TITLE: Commercial Refrigeration Technician


ROLE SUMMARY:
Responsible for the upkeep and repair of all refrigeration systems, kitchen appliances, and related equipment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assess and repair a variety of commercial refrigeration units, including freezers, coolers, and ice machines, while possessing a thorough understanding of kitchen equipment associated with refrigeration.
  2. Install new commercial refrigeration systems and their components.
  3. Modify and expand existing refrigeration systems as required.
  4. Service, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
  5. Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring diagrams.
  6. Ensure proper refrigerant recovery in compliance with Federal regulations.
  7. Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on all commercial refrigeration equipment, including filter changes and condenser cleaning.
  8. Complete work orders efficiently.
  9. Choose materials and hardware while estimating time and costs.
  10. Keep accurate records of materials and labor utilized.
  11. Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  12. Inspect completed jobs to ensure cleanliness and quality.
  13. Collaborate with supervisors to finalize projects.
  14. Identify necessary repairs on equipment through established inspection protocols.
  15. Respond to urgent service calls as necessary and be available for on-call duties as directed by management.
  16. Operate tools and machinery following safety protocols.
  17. Adhere to established safety procedures and techniques while performing job tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  18. Provide excellent customer service to clients.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • At least 2 years of experience in service and repair of refrigeration and food service equipment.
  • Experience should encompass all types of commercial refrigeration equipment, including freezers, coolers, and ice machines, along with a comprehensive understanding of kitchen equipment related to refrigeration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Universal Certification as per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Valid driving license.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to maintain and repair all varieties of refrigeration and food service equipment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written materials.
  • Competent in performing mathematical calculations.
  • Adept at diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools.
