Position Overview:
In the role of Research Engineer or Research Scientist focusing on Applied Finetuning, you will be instrumental in the training of models through Claude.AI and our public API.
This position will require the innovation and refinement of state-of-the-art finetuning techniques, including Constitutional AI and Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), to enhance the training of our production models. You will also conduct experiments, develop evaluations, and improve our model training methodologies.
By taking on this position, you will have the chance to engage in pioneering research while making a significant impact on the success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize finetuning workflows for effective language model training utilizing advanced methodologies such as Constitutional AI.
- Design creative prompts and strategies to boost model performance and behavior.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams to incorporate innovative finetuning techniques into our model training framework, ensuring ethical and beneficial outcomes.
- Create and implement new evaluation metrics to assess Claude's reasoning capabilities.
- Work alongside a research team to establish a comprehensive evaluation for a new model feature currently under development.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning research to suggest their application in production environments.
- Additional qualifications include:
- Experience in fine-tuning large language models using supervised or reinforcement learning.
- Proficiency in managing complex shared codebases and reinforcement learning infrastructure.
- Publication of research papers in the fields of machine learning, natural language processing, or AI alignment.
Compensation and Benefits:
Anthropic Limited offers a competitive salary range of $280,000 to $485,000 USD, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. For employees based in the US, benefits include optional equity donation matching, health insurance, a 401(k) plan, parental leave, unlimited paid time off, and various stipends. Employees in the UK receive similar benefits tailored to their specific location.
