KSL is excited to offer an internship opportunity within our Sports division, covering TV, radio, and digital platforms. This paid internship is tailored for students eager to apply their communications knowledge in a practical setting, particularly those interested in television production careers.

Internship Details

Under the guidance of an internship coordinator, this position is crafted for students with a keen interest in broadcast communications, allowing them to engage in the daily production and promotion of sports coverage. Responsibilities may include:

  • Basic broadcast writing
  • Camera and graphics production
  • Research and story packaging
  • Interviewing techniques
  • Contributing to and researching story ideas
  • Scheduling guest appearances

Work Environment

This role is onsite and requires presence at our Salt Lake City location. Specific work schedules will be determined based on operational needs, with flexibility expected. Interns will collaborate with management to establish a consistent schedule, although some tasks may necessitate adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

Interns will engage in various activities, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in video production
  • Videography and video/audio editing
  • Operating audio boards
  • Conducting interviews with coaches and athletes
  • Supporting production for web, digital, and app content

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree at a university, college, community college, or vocational-technical institute.
  • Preferred focus on digital media or broadcast communications, with an understanding of current events.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and self-motivation.
  • Effective writing, production, and communication skills.
  • Experience with videography, broadcast writing, and familiarity with tools like ENPS, Wordpress, Adobe Premiere/Audition is advantageous.
  • Internship duration will cover a quarter/semester period, requiring approximately twenty (20) hours per week.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with colleagues and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stress effectively.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Final decisions regarding assignments during the internship will be at the discretion of KSL.
  • No guarantees of future employment are provided, and KSL reserves the right to terminate the internship at any time.
  • Selection of interns will be made by KSL based on expressed interest.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movements of wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to process and maintain information through effective communication.
  • Capability to extend arms in various directions with good coordination.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds.

Compensation: $15 per hour.
