SUMMARY:

This role is a full-time exempt position, contributing to the Army National Guard's Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP). The Maneuver Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) provide essential support to ARNG unit leaders and their teams, from battalion to division levels, through doctrinal workshops, hands-on training, and coaching during both individual and collective training events at designated sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in current Army maneuver doctrines across various branches including Infantry, Armor, Engineer, and Aviation, while identifying emerging joint movement and maneuver strategies.
  • Serve as the primary trainer for critical processes such as operations management, Army design methodology, information collection, and the development of decision support products.
  • Provide over-the-shoulder training support for Command Post of the Future (CPOF) and Command Post Computing Environment (CPCE).
  • Develop comprehensive Concepts of Operations and Scheme of Maneuver documentation, including OPORD Paragraph 2, Commander's Intent, and operational design products to enhance training effectiveness.
  • Replicate higher headquarters functions within the Maneuver Warfighting Function (M2) for training audiences, facilitating Commander Update Briefs, Planning Working Groups, and support for targeting and operational synchronization meetings.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in military Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVC-G) training methodologies, including simulations and other Mission Command Training enablers.
  • Advise and train division and subordinate units throughout the planning and execution phases, including After Action Reviews (AAR) of MCTSP-driven collective training events.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute various training exercises, including Field Training Exercises (FTXs), Command Post Exercises (CPXs), and Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) workshops.
  • Create and update doctrinally sound training materials, including higher command operations orders and reports, while leading requested workshops.
  • Deliver constructive and relevant feedback to unit commanders and staff through informal discussions.
  • Contribute to the Final Exercise Report (FER) by detailing the planning, preparation, and execution of each DTT event.
  • Recommend LVC-G training strategies and methodologies to meet evolving training requirements.
  • Assist in designing and storyboarding scenario-based exercises that align with unit commanders' training objectives.
  • Conduct thorough research on evolving military doctrine, theater-specific operations, and newly developed tactics to enhance training scenarios.
  • Facilitate the synchronization of MCTSP training capabilities leading up to and during collective training events.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, safeguarding company and government-furnished equipment.
  • Coordinate safety information with government leadership to maintain a safe training environment.
  • Adhere to government and contract regulations, policies, and standards throughout all activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior senior Army or ARNG leadership experience with a focus on training management, ideally with Combat Training Center (CTC) experience.
  • Experience in the Warfighting Function (WFF) at the Battalion level or higher.
  • Preferred background as a Battalion or higher commander or in a similar role.
  • A minimum of six years of combined staff experience within the WFF or eight years of specialized MCTSP experience.
  • Recent involvement with the Army National Guard training support system or a comparable framework.
  • At least two years of experience working within Army Command and Control Information Systems in the WFF area.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Completion of the Command and General Staff College or equivalent military education is also preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
