Position Overview:

This role is essential within our Med-Surg Department, providing crucial support to our healthcare team.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing care plans as directed by nursing staff.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, reporting any significant changes to the nursing team.
  • Gather necessary admission information in accordance with unit protocols.
  • Guide patients and their families through the unit and familiarize them with hospital services.
  • Deliver patient care efficiently and in alignment with individual care plans.
  • Participate in required training sessions and maintain clinical competencies.
  • Support patients with daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, and mobility assistance.
  • Accurately record intake and output, as well as patient measurements.
  • Respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Manage assigned patient care responsibilities effectively.
  • Conduct glucometer checks and perform other assigned tasks within skill scope.
  • Address patient requests promptly and efficiently.
  • Adhere to observation protocols as required.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CNA certification or completion of the first semester of clinical rotations as a nursing student is necessary.
  • Preferred: One year of relevant experience.
  • BLS Certification required or to be obtained within the first six months of employment.
  • De-escalation and restraint training certification must be acquired within six months of hire.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
  • Understanding of medical supplies and equipment is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Continuous standing and walking are necessary.
  • Regular communication through speech and hearing is required.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs frequently.
  • Frequent use of vision for various distances and color differentiation.
  • Occasional lifting of heavier objects (25-50 lbs) and assisting patients.
Employment Classification:
This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), entitling employees to overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek as per applicable regulations.
