Job Title:

Surgical Services PACU RN (post anesthesia care unit)

Job Summary:

The registered nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses patient needs, develops the plan of care, creates nursing diagnoses, implements interventions and evaluates patient care throughout the patient's hospitalization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Functions within the scope of practice as defined by respective certification/license
  • Maintains an environment that preserves individual dignity and respect for privacy and confidentiality

  • Interacts with patients and families according to age and developmental levels

  • Is able to perform all duties of out-patient RN, PACU RN and GI circulating RN
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Unit Specific Duties:
  • Performing role of PACU RN
  • Cross-train to performing role of Same Day Surgery RN
  • Cross-train to performing role of Circulator RN in GI cases
Requirements:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations: Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois, CPR certified, CLS certified, PALS Certified
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Ability to use critical thinking skills and problem solve effectively, Computer literate, Knowledge and use of EHR (electronic health record), Fosters team work and team building, Coordinates daily duties of Operating Room team members to assure safe, efficient performance of surgical procedures
