Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Food Service Worker to join our team at Davenport Community Schools. As a key member of our food service team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students by providing high-quality food and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in setting up service areas, portioning, and serving food items.
  • Help with the cleaning and storing of kitchen equipment, including garbage removal and floor and table cleaning.
  • May assist cooks with assembling complex recipes and heating convenience foods according to manufacturer and district instructions.
  • Utilize various pieces of food service equipment for preparation, service, and cleanup.
  • Assist in controlling food and supply costs through proper handling, storage techniques, and portion control.
  • Maintain standards of sanitation, safety, production, service, and food quality.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Maintain good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Food Safety in Schools/Serving It Safe class required for workers with 6 hours or more of service.

Physical Demands: The worker must be physically able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods, walk extensively during the day, and lift materials weighing at least 46 pounds. May be required to climb stairs.
