Position Summary
The Physical Therapist (PT) PRN Outpatient role entails delivering comprehensive Physical Therapy services to both inpatient and outpatient populations aged 15 and older. This includes conducting evaluations, implementing evidence-based interventions, recommending equipment, and applying modalities under the guidance of a physician or qualified non-physician practitioner.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough PT evaluations for inpatients and outpatients, determining suitable treatment plans and equipment needs while considering age-specific requirements for the physical rehabilitation demographic.
- Creates a patient-focused treatment strategy based on evaluations, patient objectives, and age-related considerations to enhance treatment efficacy and functional outcomes. Ensures that the treatment plan adheres to medical necessity and incorporates evidence-based practices and measurable outcomes. Responsible for updating the treatment plan as needed, communicating changes to relevant team members, and obtaining necessary approvals from referring physicians.
- Maintains accurate documentation in line with departmental and regulatory standards to support a complete medical record that justifies skilled services and medical necessity. Appropriately charges for services rendered and documents outcome measures effectively.
- Provides clinical oversight, including coordination of care and delegation of responsibilities, to assistants, technicians, and students in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as hospital policies. Ensures that care interventions delivered by assistants and students align with the patient's care plan.
Qualifications
- A degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
- Possession of a valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Indiana is mandatory.
- Current CPR certification in compliance with AHA standards is required or must be obtained within four weeks of employment.
- A minimum of one year of experience in adult physical rehabilitation is preferred.
