Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated full-time physician to spearhead our efforts in collaboration with Vascular specialists to avert amputations within the Outpatient Wound Care Program at our Augusta campus. This facility is a comprehensive 581-bed hospital focused on adult healthcare. Our Wound & Hyperbaric Center operates as an outpatient service, delivering care for complex and chronic wounds alongside hyperbaric therapies.
Location Insights: Augusta, Georgia, is a charming mid-sized city situated at the Georgia-South Carolina border, offering a blend of southern hospitality and an appealing cost of living. The city provides convenient access to several major metropolitan areas in the South, including Atlanta, Charlotte, and Charleston.
Program Mission: Our objective is to enhance patient functionality and quality of life through superior care and tailored treatment strategies, underpinned by evidence-based practices.
Staffing Structure: The Outpatient Wound and HBO Center is structured to have two physicians managing clinics and overseeing Hyperbaric services. Operating five days a week, our clinics facilitate concurrent work for two physicians. Currently, we have one full-time physician and three affiliated private practice physicians.
Qualifications Required:
- Board certification in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, or Vascular Surgery.
- Completion of a postgraduate fellowship from an ACGME accredited program.
- Both new graduates and seasoned professionals are encouraged to apply.
- Experience in managing diabetes and patients at high risk for amputations is essential.
- Wound Certification is preferred but can be acquired within one year of employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional patient experiences through high-quality care and successful healing outcomes.
- Act as a physician leader in promoting our Wound Care Program within the community, in partnership with the Manager of Outpatient Wound and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
- Champion the development of a new initiative focused on amputation prevention in collaboration with Vascular, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Diabetes Education, and Wound Care teams.
- Foster teamwork with skilled and experienced nursing staff.
