Position Overview:

As a Corporate Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role within our accounting department, assisting in the reconciliation of account balances, processing general ledger entries, and supporting the month-end closing procedures. Your contributions will be essential in upholding our standards of financial accuracy and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in various accounting functions, including accounts payable, fixed assets, and accounts receivable as assigned.
  • Support the month-end closing process by ensuring the accuracy of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Record and reconcile general ledger activities, including accruals and accounts payable transactions.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the year-end closing and reporting processes.
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls, audits, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support tax and regulatory filings, including state escheatment and excise tax.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in accounting.
  • Experience in mortgage accounting is advantageous, particularly with Mortgage Accounting software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and draft clear instructions and correspondence.
  • Effective presentation skills for small group settings.
  • Proficient in basic mathematical operations and capable of computing rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to understand, record, and reconcile general ledger transactions in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Strong reasoning skills to apply common sense in executing detailed instructions and addressing problems involving datasets.
