The Registered Nurse Preceptor plays a vital role in the onboarding and development of new staff members at Carilion Clinic. As a seasoned nurse with a passion for education, you will be responsible for creating a comprehensive orientation plan, providing ongoing feedback, and ensuring that new hires have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Orientation Plans: Collaborate with the Education Consultant to create individualized orientation plans that meet the unique needs of each new staff member.
- Provide Ongoing Feedback and Support: Offer regular feedback and coaching to new hires, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
- Assist with Competency Validation: Work with the Education Consultant to ensure that new staff members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
- Contribute to Staff Development: Assist with the development and implementation of continuing education programs, helping to ensure that staff members have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
- Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing from an accredited college.
- Experience: Two years' experience in a clinical discipline, with a strong focus on education and staff development.
- Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. BSN preferred. Obtain CPR and ACLS certifications as needed.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in electronic medical records (EPIC) and other relevant software systems.
