We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at NEI Electric Power Engineering, Inc. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for performing engineering design in a manner that provides our clients with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget utilizing Substation Design Suite Software.
This opportunity is available to both local and full-time remote candidates.
Hourly Rate: $70-100K
Rate above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market. NEI bases rates on the Denver, Colorado labor market for both local and remote team members.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed design and prepare drawings for all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, and wiring diagrams.
- Utilize Substation Design Suite software in conjunction with AutoCAD electrical to compile protection and control drawings.
- Provide conceptual and high-level designs during bidding stage of projects with limited information or direction.
- Prepare drawings for physical design aspects if required.
- Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including basis of designs, bill of materials, and specifications as required.
- Check the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required.
- Contribute to CAD standard development in a manner that is cognizant of both engineering and design departments.
- Reduce complexity of projects/tasks within their discipline to get more done with less work.
- Provide a major role in the QA/QC process and take initiative and ownership on all project and task quality.
- Assist with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings.
- Maintain outstanding company-client relationships.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience: 2+ years of engineering design or other relevant experience.
- Education: Associates degree in Drafting, Design, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and Substation Design Suite required.
- Substation design experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and additional computer software.
- Maintain high ethical and professional standards within the overall organization.
- Engaged in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.
- Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work.
- Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.
- Provide technical assistance and training for junior engineers.
- A strong written and verbal command of the English language.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Work is performed in an office setting and may include long periods of sedentary activity.
Travel: Minimal: 0 – 10%
Physical Activities: Must be able to lift 25lbs.
Managerial Responsibility: Team Member is responsible for managing their own work schedule with input from their supervisor and completing assigned tasks.
Team Member should identify discrepancies in assigned work and bring to attention of supervisor or engineer responsible for the project in a timely manner. Team Member's work product should be self-checked in a manner that is suitable for review by the supervisor or engineer responsible for the project.
