We are seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Counselor to join our growing Behavioral Health team in Port Jervis, NY.
Job Summary:The Behavioral Health Counselor will provide diagnostic evaluations and psycho-social assessments to patients with defined mental health problems and who are at risk of or are currently abusing alcohol or drugs.
The ideal candidate will assist patients and their families through individual, group, and education conferences to understand, accept, and follow treatment recommendations.
The Behavioral Health Counselor will refer patients and their families to specialized treatment programs in accordance with their needs and monitor and evaluate their progress.
The successful candidate will provide individual psychotherapy to a full caseload of patients for various mental health issues, including individuals with HIV/AIDS, chemical dependency, and other mental health illnesses.
The Behavioral Health Counselor will collaborate with other department directors to integrate care where needed and maintain current and appropriate documentation in patient charts.
The ideal candidate will assist the Director of Behavioral Health in conducting in-service training for Cornerstone Family Healthcare medical staff on identifying and dealing with substance abuse, depression screening, and other mental health illnesses.
The Behavioral Health Counselor will act as a mandated reporter in suspected child abuse cases and provide updates to the Director of Behavioral Health on a monthly basis.
The successful candidate will attend monthly Continuous Quality Improvement and Clinical Operations Committee meetings and participate in monthly department, All Staff, and other required meetings.
The Behavioral Health Counselor will be familiar with and adhere to all clinical, administrative, and general policies and procedures as outlined in the Cornerstone Family Healthcare Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
The ideal candidate will maintain confidentiality of all aspects of Cornerstone Family Healthcare, including patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.
The Behavioral Health Counselor will perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Nursing, certified by New York State where applicable.
LMSW/LCSW/LMHC is required, and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience is preferred.
Experience working with children and adolescents is also preferred.
The salary range is $65,000-$82,000 based on qualifications.
