Job Description

Riggs Industries Inc is seeking a skilled and experienced welder and fabricator to join our production team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating equipment to weld together fabricated metal components of products such as truck bodies, trailers, and specialty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety First: Safely perform duties, always wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Quality Assurance: Observes and complies with all provisions of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Equipment Operation: Connects cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by training, or by foreman.
  • Preparation and Setup: Cleans or degreases weld joints or workpieces, prepares objects for welding by grinding surfaces, and positions and clamps work pieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
  • Welding and Finishing: Preheats the workpiece if required, strikes the arc to melt and deposit metal from the electrode to the workpiece, and examines the weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Maintenance and Housekeeping: Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter, and sets up and adjusts the welder, and performs routine maintenance such as replacing spools of wire and changing out liners.
  • Material Handling: Safely operates all lifting devices such as overhead and jib cranes and fork trucks when authorized and adequately trained.
Requirements:
  • Vocational/technical training and a high school diploma or general education degree with work experience in an industrial setting are required.
