Role Responsibilities and QualificationsThe Radiation Therapist plays a crucial role within the radiation oncology team, responsible for the precise delivery of treatment plans and vigilant monitoring of patient setups. Key responsibilities include:
- Accountability for the execution of treatment plans and assessments.
- Professional conduct that prioritizes patient welfare.
- Knowledge of relevant conditions and treatment modalities.
- Monitoring and reporting changes in patient status.
- Effective communication skills for maintaining accurate medical records.
- Utilization of treatment tools to ensure accurate radiation delivery.
- Expertise in radiation oncology processes for optimal treatment outcomes.
- Adherence to quality assurance protocols before patient treatment.
- Collaboration with the radiation oncology team to develop effective treatment devices.
- Proficiency in imaging equipment for accurate tumor localization.
- Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and radiation safety principles.
- Compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Collaboration to foster a positive work environment focused on exceptional patient care.
- Support for departmental objectives.
- Maintenance of ARRT certification and licensure, with ongoing training as required.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and ARRT certification within six months of employment.
- Preferred experience of three years or more.
- ARRT certification in radiation therapy.
- BLS certification upon hire.
- Current licensure in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Kansas State licensure within six months of hire.
